Golden is known for it's big mountain views, outdoor activities and being a place of adventure. It's known for its beautiful scenery, wide open spaces, natural landscapes and being at the heart of six national parks. Golden is home to world class hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, kayaking, skiing and paragliding.

Golden, British Columbia The town was established in 1883 as a railway base camp named Cache. The name was later changed in an effort to compete with the nearby camp of Silver City. Since 2000, and the development of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Golden has become increasingly tourist-oriented.

Golden is not as busy as Banff, and makes a great base for exploring hiking trails, world-class skiing, waterfalls, lakes and many heritage sites. With its 3,700 inhabitants, it has a friendly small town atmosphere with great restaurants, cool shops, cycle paths, hiking trails and treading horses along the river.

Golden sits between six of the country's most stunning national parks: Yoho, Glacier, Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Mount Revelstoke, and is handsomely endowed with fast-flowing rivers, sheer granite crags, and a winter deluge of dry, powdery snow.
